There will be live Irish music, and an Irish step dancing performance. Create an Irish straw craft or make an Irish proverb sign to take home. Included in the regular price of admission.

From Portsmouth Take the Spaulding Turnpike to Exit 8E. Follow Silver Street to a second set of lights. Turn LEFT onto Locust Street. Follow Locust Street to the bottom of the hill. The Library is on the LEFT. From the west Take Routes 4 or 125 to the Lee Traffic Circle. Then take Route 4 East. Take the first exit to Route 155. Turn left on Route 155 toward Dover. Follow Route 155 through the traffic lights, over the turnpike, then Follow Silver Street to a third set of lights. Turn LEFT onto Locust Street. Follow Locust Street to the bottom of the hill. The Library is on the LEFT. From the north Take spaulding Turnpike south from Rochester. Take Exit 8 East, then Follow Silver Street to a second set of lights. Turn LEFT onto Locust Street. Follow Locust Street to the bottom of the hill. The Library is on the LEFT. Parking Follow the driveway between the Library and the McConnell Center, back behind the Library. Park anywhere in the parking lot except in the rows marked permit only, which are located on the perimeter of the lot and in the last two rows farthest from the building.

'Spirit Up Somersworth' community cleanup day coming up

Somersworth NHThe Somersworth High School Interact Club and Somersworth Youth Connection (SYC) are hosting "Spirit Up Somersworth" community-wide cleanup day in celebration of Earth Day, on April 17 (with a rain date of April 24), from 8:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.

Organizers hope to raise awareness of the environment and get as many city leaders, businesses, community organizations, youth groups, school organizations and families to celebrate Earth Day and beautify the community.

The goal is to challenge Somersworth to have 1,000 people participate in cleaning up their community in designated areas, or in their own neighborhoods.

"Spirit Up Somersworth" kicks off in the parking lot at Somersworth Middle School on Saturday morning, April 17 between 8:00-8:30. Sign in with your group and pick up supplies. Participants will then head off to a designated area of the community to make them sparkle. Trash bags and gloves will be provided; garden tools are limited, so please bring your own rake.

Also included in the days event will be raffle prizes, food, music, vendors, displays and great company.

Wine and food tasting fundraiser, Dover New Hampshire

The 3rd Annual Wine and Food Tasting Fundraiser to benefit the Dover Children's Home is being held on Thursday, April 8, from 6 to 10 p.m. Hosted by Blue Latitudes Restaurant at 437 Central Avenue in Dover, the event will feature more than 25 wines from the Pacific Coast paired with an array of the Executive Chef's most exquisite appetizers, cheeses, and desserts from the highlighted region. Guests can expect a fabulous night of live music, socializing, and sampling in a beautiful downtown Dover restaurant. Each guest will receive a booklet of the featured wines with detailed descriptions.

Tasting tables will be arranged throughout the restaurant, featuring a range of red, white, and dessert varietals such as Terrazas Reserve Malbec from Argentina, Casa Lapostolle Cuvee Chardonnay from Chile; Chateau Ste. Michelle Indian Wells Merlot from Washington State; and Ferrari Carano Fume Blanc, Rosenblum Petite Sirah, Sterling Vintner's Collection Pinot Noir, and Wente Morning Fog Chardonnay from California. The wines will be paired with appetizers such as Lamb Lollipops, Mango Crab Stack, Steak au Poivre, Shrimp and Artichoke, Spicy Tuna Rolls, Antipasto Skewers, and Mini Crab Cakes. Each table will have a vendor representative who can make suggestions and answer questions about each wine.

 

 

A limited number of tickets to this charity event are being sold in advance for $60 per person. Come see this classic children's story come alive on the big screen.  Max, a rambunctious and sensitive boy feels misunderstood at home and escapes to where the Wild Things are. He lands on an island where he meets mysterious and strange creatures whose emotions are as wild and unpredictable as their actions. The Wild Things desperately long for a leader to guide them, just as Max longs for a kingdom to rule. When Max is crowned king, he promises to create a place where everyone will be happy. Max soon finds, though, that ruling his kingdom is not so easy and his relationships there prove to be more complicated than he originally thought.

Dover New Hampshire Children's museum Mardi Gras celebration

The Children's museum of Dover New Hampshirewill hold it's annual family Mardi Gras celebration on Sunday, February 14th, from noon to 5 p.m..  The cultural celebration will feature entertainment and activities for all ages.

Live Cajun music will be played by "The Fiddling Thompsons".  Regional, New Orleans style foods will be available to sample.  And there will even be children's parades throughout the museum!

Children will be able to make Mardi Gras masks and jester hats.  Each visitor will be given Mardi Gras beads to wear.

Former New England Patriots to visit Somersworth New Hampshire for annual fundraiser

Former New England Patriots players such as Max Lane, Vernon Crawford, Ronnie Lippett and Roland James (both from the historic 1986 Super Bowl team) will be visiting and competing in Somersworth.

The Somersworth Police Association is bringing a New England Patriots Alumni charity basketball game on Saturday, Feb.20 at 6 pm at the Somersworth High School gymnasium. In addition to the main event, there will be a chance for autographs and pictures after the game.

Money raised will help programs supported throughout the year by the Somersworth Police Association. Tickets will be available at the door for a suggested $10 donation.
