U.S. Navy Blue Angels visit Portsmouth New Hampshire

The United States Navy Blue Angels will appear on August 28th and 29th at the 2010 Boston – New England Air Show at the Pease International Tradeport in Portsmouth, New Hampshire.

Blue Angels in Portsmouth NH

I decided to take a half day today and pickup my 9 year old son Michael and head to Portsmouth.  While out with a client yesterday, 8/26/10, the sky rumbled above me, when I looked up. it was the U.S. Navy Blue Angels on a practice run.  I figured it would be a nice day for my son and I to spend a few extra hours, just the two of us and take in today's practice.

When we arrived at Pease Air Force base, there was about 50 to 75 people in a grassy area near the end of the runways.  We were able to grab a great viewing spot at the top of a small hill and meet a few other on-lookers.  Around 3 p.m. more people showed up, the crowd now totaled around 200 to 250 people.  The anticipation grew, my son was getting bored, and the next thing we heard was a loud rumble, and saw 4 jets take off from a distant runway.  Soon after 2 more took off, only a few hundred yards away.

All of the photos were taken today in Portsmouth NH at Pease Air Force Base while watching the U.S. Navy Blue Angels practice.

The Boston – New England Air Show was reformed from the former Pease Air Show, which was historically a mid-tier air show held at Pease International Tradeport and the New Hampshire ANG Base every other year. Beginning in 2010 the Boston – New England Air Show has been designed to be a large scale event. The event will be marketed regionally to a marketing area including up to 4.5 million people. In addition to being a first-class aviation event, The Boston – New England Air Show supports two of New England’s finest community organizations. The Daniel Webster Council, Boy Scouts of America serves more than 18,000 youths annually. The Brain Injury Association of New Hampshire is a private, non-profit, family and consumer run organization representing over 5,000 New Hampshire residents with acquired brain disorders and stroke. . The Liberty Mutual Children's Seriies is part of the Cochecho Arts Festival.  The Festival began in the summer of 1987, after the Chamber had accepted the challenge of matching an anonymous donation to produce a summer concert series. With the Cochecho Arts Festival now thriving, the Chamber has indeed met the challenge. The variety of performances have always attracted huge crowds to Dover — not only from the Seacoast, but as far away as the Mid-Atlantic states.
