Exploring the Compost Pile!

This Children’s Activity will be on Saturday, August 21st at 10:00am.

This week we will be exploring (read: digging in and climbing about) our two compost piles; one finished and one working. We will also be harvesting and caring for existing plantings. Come ready to dig! Tractors, trucks and diggers welcome! Children of all ages are welcome to participate in DCCG’s free children’s program. No preregistration is necessary. We will meet at the DCCG shed at 10:00am and walk out to the garden together. It is a good idea to wear sunscreen and a hat and bring bug spray, water and a snack.

Teddy Bear Clinic and Tea Party

Wednesday, August 11 - 10:00am to 12:00pm

Children are invited to bring their favorite stuffed friend to the Children's Museum's annual Teddy Bear Clinic, followed by a Teddy Tea Party. This event is designed to not only be fun, but also help children who may be anxious about visiting the doctor. Volunteer health professionals will be on hand to issue each animal an ID bracelet, perform health check-ups, and conduct minor surgery on furry friends in need of repair.

This is just one of the many great programs offerd by the Childrens Museum of New Hampshire.   The Childrens Museum is located at 6 Washington Street, Dover New Hampshire.

Liberty Mutual Children's Series:

When: Tuesday, August 10 - 10:30 to 11:30am

Suze Susie Burke is an exceptional children's performer, as her many fans both young and older will testify. Drawing on her unique background as both a professional musician and an early childhood teacher, she presents a program that is entertaining, educational, involving, inspiring, and of high musical caliber. Free and open to the public at the Burns, Byrant, Cox, Rockefeller & DurkinStage at the Rotary Arts Pavilion at Henry Law Park.

The Liberty Mutual Children's Seriies is part of the Cochecho Arts Festival.  The Festival began in the summer of 1987, after the Chamber had accepted the challenge of matching an anonymous donation to produce a summer concert series. With the Cochecho Arts Festival now thriving, the Chamber has indeed met the challenge. The variety of performances have always attracted huge crowds to Dover — not only from the Seacoast, but as far away as the Mid-Atlantic states.

Skate to new music and cosmic lights every Saturday night at the Dover Ice Arena! Supervised fun for all ages. Bring a friend or have a Rock Night party. Every Saturday night; times may vary - please call ahead or check the website! Its $10.00, which includes rental skates if you need them. Bring music requests!

The Dover Cassily Community Garden is a peaceful place where all community members can come together to nurture our connection to nature and each other by growing food locally.

More information about the garden:

* We help foster community and build personal relationships in everything we do. All garden stewards work on one contiguous garden together, from the design, to planting, weeding, harvesting, community building, and eating (yummy!).

* We believe in giving back to the community and to those that are less fortunate. Food is distributed three ways: (1) some is distributed to garden stewards, (2) some is donated to the Dover food pantry, and (3) some is sold to raise funds for the garden. Of course we keep some to plant the next year as well!

Directions: The garden is located in Dover, NH on public land protected by a conservation easement. To get there from the center of town, take Central Ave northbound. Take a left on sixth street and after half a mile a left onto Hillside Drive. Drive (slowly) past the housing development on your left and take a right onto a gravel parking lot with a green shed at the far side. You can park by the green shed (where we store our gardening equipment) and continue the rest of the way by foot. Follow the signs into the woods for a short bit, taking a quick left. When you come out in an open field, take a right and walk uphill. The garden plots are located towards the top of the hill. Congratulations, you've arrived!
